Denver International Airport (DEN) is the largest airport in Colorado and the state’s second-largest hub for United Airlines. It is located in Denver, Colorado which is a mile from the city center and covers 53 square miles. It has six runways, 34 gates and employs over 15,000 people.
Denver International Airport was built in 1995 to replace Stapleton International Airport which had become too small for the city’s needs. The airport was designed by architect Charles Deaton and it took over 10 years to complete construction on the site of a former cattle ranch.
