BHM was founded in 1931 as Birmingham Municipal Airport. In its early years, the airport only had a few flights per day. However, as Birmingham’s population and the economy grew, so did the airport. By the 1960s, BHM was handling over a million passengers per year and was one of the busiest airports in the southeastern United States.

Today, Birmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) offers over 150 daily flights to 50+ destinations. The airport has two main concourses – A and B – which are connected by a central atrium. BHM also has a dedicated international terminal, which opened in 2006.

In addition to its many flights, BHM also offers a variety of amenities and facilities for passengers. These include free Wi-Fi, a children’s play area, several restaurants and bars, and a variety of retail shops. The airport also has a business center and conference rooms for travelers who need to work while on the go.
