Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL), also known as Atlanta Airport, is the world’s busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic. ATL airport serves more than 100 million passengers annually and it is located in the city of Atlanta.
Atlanta Airport was opened in May of 1980 and it was originally called William B. Hartsfield Atlanta Airport after William B. Hartsfield who served as mayor of Atlanta for over 20 years. It was renamed to its current name in 2001 after Hartsfield died.
